The goal of the project is to coordinate measures for the development of the innovation ecosystem in Vaasa, to invest in project preparations relevant to the development of the innovation ecosystem, and to network both nationally and especially internationally. In practice, the aim is to create large, high-impact project complexes through cooperation between the private and public sectors, where the City of Vaasa and its partners implement various innovation-enhancing measures which can be exported commercially.

To this end, creating collaborative development platforms for stakeholders, projects of companies and groups of companies, rapid experiments and pilots, and also develop research infrastructure, skills and competencies to meet the research needs of world-class energy ecosystem enterprises. Measures and projects are prepared and selected in cooperation with different parties, such as universities and businesses.

These activities seek new export solutions. Attracting international talent to the region is also of paramount importance to ensure high levels of competence and operational stability. Vaasa aims to use the Innovation Ecosystem Agreement, in particular for co-development, networking and the creation of wider ecosystem-strengthening entities, with the aim of using EU funding channels such as the Green Deal and Recovery Funds and, where applicable, national funding, for example through Business Finland, the ELY Centre or the Regional Council of Ostrobothnia.
