Liisu is a business plan program developed specifically for aspiring entrepreneurs. The service guides users step by step through the key aspects of running a business and helps them build a solid foundation for their company. A business plan is also needed when applying for a start-up grant or a loan.

Startia’s business advisors can help you get started with your business plan, develop it further and answer any questions that may arise along the way. You can also explore the program independently before meeting with a Startia advisor. The program is free of charge and confidential and is available on our website.

Improved functionality and a new section on sustainability

Liisu is the updated version of Startia’s business plan program, previously known as LISSU. The content is mainly familiar, but the functionality has been improved and the structure made more logical and user-friendly.

For example, pricing is a new topic, addressed already in the section covering products and services. The information entered there is automatically transferred to the profit plan, which is covered in section seven of the plan. This means that one of the key aspects of a company’s finances is taken into account at an early stage of the planning process.

The biggest new feature is an entirely new section on sustainability. When applying for grants and financing, entrepreneurs need to be able to answer questions about sustainability. These issues are also important for companies planning to work as subcontractors for larger businesses, which have sustainability reporting obligations.

– Sustainability is important to consider for the benefit of your own business, not just when applying for a start-up grant or financing. The new section makes it easier for aspiring entrepreneurs to incorporate sustainability into their plans from the very beginning. Although completing the section is not mandatory, it is a good idea to consider sustainability issues from the outset, says Tommi Virkama, Director of Startia.

Easier business planning and follow-up

Liisu is an interactive program that allows users to discuss business ideas and questions related to running a business directly with Startia’s business advisors. The program also supports collaboration better than before. If several people are planning to start a business together, they can work on a shared business plan within the program.

Other stakeholders can also be granted access to the business plan, including any attachments uploaded to it. This can be useful, for example, when applying for a start-up grant, as the employment area can access the necessary information directly through Liisu. However, the plan is only shared with the aspiring entrepreneur’s permission.

– The program’s interactive features are very important. They allow customers to get quick answers to their questions within the program and move forward with their business planning. The possibility to collaborate and share the plan makes the process smoother for everyone involved, Virkama says.

Liisu is also useful after a company has been established. Entrepreneurs can continue to develop and update their business plans at different stages of their company’s development. This may involve smaller changes, such as updating the marketing strategy, but also longer-term business planning and monitoring. The program can also help entrepreneurs prepare for situations such as a change of ownership.

Important information for users of the old version

The transition to the new version means that the old LISSU system will be discontinued. If you already have a business plan in the old system, it is important to save any information you wish to keep.

You can continue editing your existing plan in the old system between 1 October and 1 November 2026. After that, you can still download your plan as a PDF until 31 December 2026. After this date, all information in the old version will be deleted.
