Passenger Numbers Continue to Grow at Vaasa Airport
Passenger traffic at Vaasa Airport has continued to grow during the first part of the year. Between January and July, more than 100,000 passengers travelled through the airport, representing a 4.1% increase compared to the same period last year.
The milestone of 100,000 passengers was reached a couple of weeks earlier this year than in 2025.
"The development has been positive so far," says Peter Källberg, Project Manager for Tourism at Vaasa Region Development Company VASEK.
Overall, July was slightly weaker than the previous year, with passenger numbers declining by 0.7% compared to July 2025.
"The slight decrease is largely explained by the fact that there were fewer international flights available than last year. Domestic traffic, on the other hand, grew significantly, so I would still assess the overall demand for travel as being strong," Källberg says.
Vaasa Airport is an important transport link for both the region's businesses and leisure travellers. The continued growth in passenger numbers during the first seven months of the year reflects the region's sustained demand for air travel.
The figures are based on passenger statistics published by Finavia.
