EnergyWeek 2026 – Circular economy as a foundation for strong preparedness
Both natural disasters and the geopolitical climate have increasingly highlighted the importance of preparedness. During the EnergyWeek seminar Circular Economy, we will hear how the circular economy is not only a tool to combat climate change and its impacts, but also helps strengthen our resilience and preparedness capacity.
Circular Economy – reduce the climate footprint, increase preparedness
A common perception of circular economy is that it is about waste, which is not entirely accurate. On the contrary, the aim of circular economy is to avoid waste by using things and materials longer, elsewhere, or in different ways. Nothing should go to waste. Fundamentally, it can be said to be about a self-sufficient society.
A self-sufficient society that can rely on itself has strong preparedness.
The seminar speakers will highlight this from their own areas of expertise, providing a comprehensive programme with many interesting perspectives.
Our speakers:
- Military Professor Mika Hyytiäinen works as a wargaming expert at Ekokumppanit Oy and teaches companies preparedness through games.
- Meira-Pia Lohiluoma, CEO of ProAgria, organization for agricultural advisory and development, will talk about their projects related to food production, circularity and preparedness.
- Sari Tasa from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment is a Senior Specialist in innovation, business financing and industrial policy. She will highlight resource security and industrial resilience.
The lectures will be followed by a panel discussion, where our speakers will be joined by Mercedes Mwansa, Director Strategy & Planning from the Zambian public authority REA (Rural Electrification Authority), bringing both an international and energy-technology perspective.
