The Finnish company WE Tech Solutions is an energy solution provider that originates from the coastal city of Vaasa. The company has a wide global presence in the shipping world and has provided efficient energy solutions to over 100 vessels globally. WE Tech Solutions is constantly growing, going from 33 employees in 2022 to 50 employees in 2023. From 2019 to 2022, the turnover grew from 7 million to 34 million. The company strives to create savings and reduce emissions by improving energy efficiency in the shipping industry.

The Finnish electric vehicle DC fast charging solutions provider Kempower has recently opened a new office and RDI center in the city of Vaasa. Kempower primarily concentrates on the electrification of transportation. In Vaasa, the company’s focus is on the development of DC fast charging solutions especially for heavy transport. In 2020, the company’s revenue was 3 million euros, and already in 2022, the revenue had risen to 104 million euros. In 2023, the revenue is expected to be around 280-310 million euros.

The City of Vaasa, Umeå municipality, Umeå Hamn AB, Umeå Kommunföretag AB, Wasaline and Kvarken Ports have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on a Green Shipping Corridor between Umeå and Vaasa.
