The ”bad boys” of the market square – Bad Bun combines street food and fine dining

The entrepreneurs Benjamin Smith, Saku Railio and Tapani Hovi set up a street food truck called Bad Bun that operates at Vaasa market square. Instead of traditional sausage potatoes and hamburgers, the business focuses on bao buns, that is Asian steamed and filled buns. During the summer, the business has managed to attract several curious mouths as well as regular customers to the market square.

FREYR Battery, a developer of next-generation battery cell production capacity, have entered into two memoranda of understanding (“MoU”) with Finnish Minerals Group and the City of Vaasa, respectively, for strategic collaborations on potential development of industrial scale battery cell technology and production in Finland.

"When you add an international energy technology cluster with 160 companies and a constant shortage of experts to the equation, you don't have to wonder why one of the most important goals of our regional marketing work together with other actors in the near future is to have a particular impact on getting young people to stay in the Vaasa region also after their studies," says Marketing manager Mari Kattelus.

The City of Vaasa and Johnson Matthey have signed a Common Letter of Intent on 2 April 2021. The front-end engineering design for the battery value chain operator Johnson Matthey’s commercial plant in Vaasa has begun. The plant is planned to be in operation in 2024.
