Federica Polo appointed as EU Affairs Manager at Technology Centre Merinova

Federica Polo has been appointed as EU Affairs Manager at Technology Centre Merinova as of 1 December 2020. In her role, she will promote active cooperation between stakeholders of the universities and industry in European and international research cooperation, by acting as a connection point and facilitator for the development of project ideas, together with the actors in the energy ecosystem in the Vaasa region.

Polo holds a Master’s degree in Social Sciences and in January 2021, she will defend her Doctoral dissertation in Economics and Business Administration at the University of Vaasa. She has written several publications on competence development and training in technology companies, and has years of experience in applying for EU funding and managing European projects. In addition, she has worked as researcher at the School of Technology and Innovation of the University of Vaasa and participated in a number of projects with technology companies in the Vaasa region.

The work for creating a new approach to attracting direct EU funding to the Vaasa region started in early 2015. During the first five years, a number of project applications have been made from our region and the amount of funding in our region has developed very positively. The EU Affairs Manager activities are co-financed by ten partners: City of Vaasa, Vaasa Region Development COmpany VASEK, Merinova, Regional Council of Ostrobothnia, Vaasa University, Vaasa University of Applied Sciences, Novia University of Applied Sciences, Åbo Akademi University, University of Helsinki, and Hanken School of Economics.
