Some Small and Medium Enterprises Are Established for the International Market from the Start

Small and open economies like Finland need enterprises that work well in the international market. Usually, an enterprise’s process of internationalisation is spurred on by its growth, but for some the domestic market is too small right from the beginning. Economic decision-makers would like to see more businesses in Finland that are born global, but unfortunately there is no ready-made formula for bringing them about.

From the Energy Cluster to the World

WE Tech Solutions Oy and Arcteq Relays Ltd, which are part of the Vaasa Region’s energy technology cluster, were created as spin-offs about three years ago. Specialising in improving the energy efficiency of ships, WE Tech Solutions has its roots in Wärtsilä, whereas the founders of Arcteq Relays acquired their experience working for a protection relay manufacturer in the Vaasa Region. Market demand had a strong influence on the decision to establish these enterprises. Right from the start, they were founded to provide products for the global market because there are simply not enough clients for them in Finland.
