From the beginning of the year till the end September, the Vaasa Region Enterprise Agency Startia helped to start 131 new businesses in the Vaasa region. A total of 306 new clients visited Startia to discuss their business ideas. These new companies have created 176 new jobs in the region.

- We have noticed during the fall that those who wish to start a company tend to give it a little more thought and plan more carefully, says Tommi Virkama, manager for Startia.
- It looks like the eagerness to start businesses that we saw last year has evened out a bit. What also affects is the good employment situation. Lately the candidates' business ideas have also been realistic and realizable.

In the same time period, VASEK's business advisors gave guidance and counselling to 504 businesses in a total of 1612 business contacts.

- A lot of the SMEs in the region are doing extremely fine right now, says Kjell Nydahl, head of business services, - but we have detected a certain caution during the fall season.
