Visibility and availability are important for all enterprises but essential for starting enterprises, who need to find customers and make their way to the markets. In the digital era, visibility and availability through the internet, e-mail, phone, and increasingly the social media, have become even more central.
– Starting enterprises’ IT and communications needs vary greatly depending on their field of business, but certain basic things need to be taken care of, says Kaj Ohls, Contact Manager at Anvia. – Telephone and Internet connections, e-mail, web address and web page are the basics that nearly all enterprises need to have.
Ohls knows his subject due to his long experience in working with IT, telecommunications, applications and communications in enterprises. In addition to the selling aspect of his job, he has given presentations on these topics in breakfast sessions arranged in collaboration with the Vaasa Region Enterprise Agency Startia.

Web-based functions on increase
In more and more enterprises, the work is done via the web outside the office. This is why solutions for telecommunications have to enable safe teleworking. Documents and programs are increasingly often in the cloud, not physically on the enterprise’s server.
– Microsoft 365 is an excellent example of cloud computing that enables working from anywhere, on the condition that the employee can connect to the web. Office 365 is suitable for enterprises of all sizes thanks to its scalability, Ohls says.
Today, there are also programs other than Microsoft’s that function over the web, and purchasing fixed licenses-per-computer has decreased. Web-based applications are always up to date and they offer more options for the same price than fixed licenses.
Enterprises can start using programs and IT appliances from Anvia either by purchasing or leasing them for a monthly fee. If needed, Anvia can also take care of the support and maintenance of the entire IT environment of an enterprise.
– What we are seeing now is that retail trade is increasingly going online. Both pure online businesses and businesses with a physical store space have online shops. Our most inexpensive online shop only costs around twenty euros per month, so starting an online shop is not d
ependent on price, Ohls says.
