Implementation of the Vaasa Airport Logistics Center (VALC) is proceeding, even if the decision on the investment support for the air cargo apron has not yet been made by the Ministry of Transport and Communication. "We didn't just want to passively wait for the decision. That's why VALC and Oy Vaasa Parks Ab decided to move on with the planning of our air cargo terminal", said Riitta Björkenheim, Project Manager for the VALC.
Riku Aramo, an architect at Arkkitehtiruutu Oy made the first plans for the air cargo terminal during the summer. Now VALC and Vaasa Parks are collecting comments concerning the plans from the potential users of the terminal. "This commenting round has been very useful. We have already got positive input from the users' point of view and we are still collecting more. Many future users of the logistics center have been interested in our progress. It seems that in 2012 there is going to be a significant need for the new logistics centre", Björkenheim revealed.
The town plan for the Vaasa Airport Logistics Centre has already been approved by the City Council, and also the new roads to the future facility are ready. At the same time, planning for the nearby Logistics Centre for Land Traffic is going on and the municipalities are working with the disposition plan of the area.
