Vaasa Region Development Company VASEK has together with 11 energy technology companies in the region announced Finland's best summer job position. The energy ambassador's job consists of getting to know the Vaasa region and its top energy technology companies by working one week for each company and to share the experiences mainly in the social media. For the three-month job, the ambassador will earn 30,000 euro plus a number of benefits including four-star accommodation, car, occupational health care, banking and investment services and daily consumer goods, arranged by the campaign partners.
The heart of the most important energy technology centre in the Nordic Countries - Vaasa - will be the venue for the international event Vaasa EnergyWeek, held from 19th to 22nd March 2012. The occasion combines three events from the energy industry that have already become something of a tradition. Concentrating the national Energy and Environment Seminar, the Vaasa Wind Exchange forum and the international Renewable Efficient Energy II conference all on the same week brings a synergy for both visitors and organisers of the EnergyWeek.
A total of 177 new businesses were founded in the Vaasa region in 2011 with the help of the Vaasa Region Enterprise Agency Startia. All-in-all, 429 new clients discussed their business idea and activities with Startia. These new businesses have created 238 new jobs in the region.

Number two in the InnoEdu-project lecture series directed at entrepreneurs with foreign background took place on November 9th under the theme "Marketing and Social Media as a tool for being a successful entrepreneur in the Vaasa Region". The lecturer was Miia Äkkinen from the company Meritext Oy who presented herself as a social media enthusiast.

From the beginning of the year till the end September, the Vaasa Region Enterprise Agency Startia helped to start 131 new businesses in the Vaasa region. A total of 306 new clients visited Startia to discuss their business ideas. These new companies have created 176 new jobs in the region.
An investment process that has continued for about a year now reaches its conclusion: Prokon Energisystem GmbH confirms that it will establish operations in Vaasa.
Event Management, a course offered at Vaasan ammattikorkeakoulu (VAMK) University of Applied Sciences, gave students a chance to plan a fair stand with which to make the wooden house industry more popular in the eyes of junior high school students. The KnowHow Fair focuses on education, working life and recruitment, and 14-16 year olds form one of the target visitor groups. This year the event will take place on November 23-24.
